The Partridge Family - Season 2, Episode 19 (44)
Title: My Heart Belongs To A Two-Car Garage
First aired: February 4, 1972
Synopsis:
It’s very early morning and Shirley is still sleeping when Tracy enters her bedroom and asks where eggs can be found in the kitchen. A few minutes later Chris asks about butter. When Tracy comes again and asks where the caviar is, this strange question at last wakes Shirley.
Everybody runs out of their bedrooms because someone is in the kitchen and singing very loudly. Tracy and Chris have invited a street worker and that nice looking stranger, in worker's clothing, speaking with a strange accent, is making breakfast in the Partridge’s kitchen. He introduces himself; he is Russian, his name is Nicholas Minsky Pushkin. Shirley doesn’t know what to think about it. The man is very kind and funny, and he says that he is a very famous painter, but not one of the Partridges have heard about him. Finally Shirley sits down and they eat breakfast together.
Nicholas wants to repay the family for their hospitality, but each time he tries to fix or repair something he breaks another thing. Shirley would like to get rid of him. When they return home with their manager Reuben Kincaid after the concert, they couldn't believe their eyes. Pushkin has painted a portrait of a beautiful, scantily dressed, girl on their garage door as a way to thank them. The painter is very satisfied with his work and declares that this masterpiece is his gift for the family.
Of course, the painting arouses incredible stir in the neighborhood. Some neighbors demand that Shirley remove or paint over the painting. Everyone is very agitated, and they start to quarrel. Pushkin suddenly disappears and returns at the very last moment when the neighbors want to destroy the painting themselves. He arrives in an elegant car escorted by the police, and brings with him Mr Hensley from the Museum of Art. The appraiser confirms that the painting is the work of the world-famous painter, and the museum buys the Partridges’ garage door with the painting for enough money for Shirley to replace the garage door and for Pushkin to have a holiday.
