The Partridge Family - Season 2, Episode 5 (30)
Title: Anatomy Of A Tonsil
First aired: October 15, 1971
Synopsis:
Danny has a sore throat, and a doctor informs Shirley that Danny’s tonsils should be removed. The day for an operation is fixed and Shirley asks the kids to be nice to Danny. He pretends to be brave, but he is quite nervous about the upcoming operation. Danny starts to be really scared when his school friend, Punky Lazaar, tells him that this is a dangerous operation and Danny could die. Punky has had his tonsils removed and it was a horrible experience.
After watching an episode of Marcus Welby M.D. Danny is convinced that everybody is so nice to him because they know that he might not survive the operation. He organizes an audition for a replacement for himself as a member of The Partridge Family. Before going to hospital Danny says goodbye to his siblings, Reuben and even the house. He tells Keith that he doesn’t have to pay him back $2.
The operation is successful, and Danny is surprised to be alive. Two days after getting home he tries to tape his singing voice. A week after the operation, Danny insists that he is still not well even though the doctor says he is fully recovered. He stays in bed in his room. The problem is that now he thinks that he’s lost his voice. He doesn’t believe Shirley that nothing is wrong with it.
The rest of the kids want to rehearse but they can’t without the bass player. Shirley devises a trick to heal Danny. The whole family and their manager go to Danny’s room to tell him that they have just found a replacement for him. A wonderful, handsome bass player who soon will come to rehearse with the band in a garage. Danny pretends he doesn’t care but of course he wants to see the new band member and goes downstairs. When he sees that this new bass player is Punky Lazaar he recovers immediately. The band is back together again.
