The Partridge Family - Season 2, Episode 8 (33)
Title: Days Of Acne And Roses
First aired: November 5, 1971
Synopsis:
Wendell, who works at a grocery after school, has a big crush on Laurie. When he delivers to Partridges Wendell tries to do it as fast as possible because he is shy and doesn’t want to meet Laurie. She thinks that he is nice and wants to help him to get over his shyness. She has nothing against going on a date with him.
Danny, behind Laurie's back, tries to convince Wendell to go out with his sister. Wendell pretends at first that he is not interested in Laurie, but he gives up and tells Danny that he would love to go on a date with her, but he has never been out with a girl. He has no experience.
Danny brings him to the Partridges’ house to talk with Keith who is a real expert on girls. Eventually, thanks to Keith, Danny and even Laurie, Wendell asks her to go out with him next Friday night. Thanks to the Partridges, Wendell’s self-esteem improves.
Unfortunately everybody has forgotten that on that Friday night, The Partridge Family have a concert in Phoenix, Arizona. Laurie is very sorry, but she has to postpone her date with Wendell. He takes it badly and thinks that Laurie’s been making fun of him from the start, and that date idea was a joke.
Next week Wendell avoids Laurie and Keith at school, even Shirley's intervention doesn’t help, Wendell just doesn’t want to talk with them. Laurie has enough and decides to talk with him herself. She goes to the shop where Wendell works. She tells Wendell that on Friday night a football team is having a party at school, and she would love to go with him. Finally, he believes that she really wants a date with him. The party is a great success for Wendell, and other students say that maybe they’ve underestimated him.
The next day Laurie fears that she has another problem. She is afraid that now Wendell would want to go steady with her. She likes him, but nothing more. Wendell asks her to meet up and fortunately he feels the same as her. He likes Laurie very much, but now that his confidence has improved, he wants to date other girls too.
