The Partridge Family - Season 4, Episode 2 (76)
Title: None But the Lonely
First aired: September 22, 1973
Synopsis:
Laurie writes a new advice column for teenagers in the local newspaper.
Keith wants Laurie to ask the new girl at school, Dina Firmly to go out on a date with him. Laurie replies by saying he should ask her out himself, but Keith says he's tried but she won't have anything to do with him. Laurie tells him that Dina won't have anything to do with him because she has heard about Keith's reputation with girls. Keith is upset when he finds out that Laurie started those rumours. Laurie defends herself by saying she was only telling the truth.
Keith develops a scheme to get a date. He invents a person called 'Mr Lonely,' who writes a letter to Laurie's column, saying he's new to town and wants to make new friends and signs it "Onely" because the capital 'L' on his typewriter doesn't work. He hopes Laurie will set 'Mr Onely' up with Dina and he will finally get a date with her.
The scheme is about to work but then Laurie finds out the capital 'L' on Keith's typewriter doesn't work, after she uses his typewriter to reply to one of 'Mr Onely's letters consequently discovering 'Mr Onely's identity.
With help from Shirley and Reuben, Laurie convinces Keith that 'Mr Onely' is unbalanced. To complete her revenge Laurie tells Dina about Keith's scheme and they agree on arranging a date between Dina and 'Mr Onely'.
When Keith meets up with Dina, Laurie is with her and tells Keith that she knows about his scheme. Keith apologises and Dina is flattered that Keith would go through all that trouble just to get a date with her and accepts a date with him for the next evening.
It appears that Keith has won, but in the end his date with Dina doesn't go well.
