The Partridge Family - Season 4, Episode 3 (77)
Title: Beethoven, Brahms and Partridge
First aired: September 29, 1973
Synopsis:
Rachel is a cellist and the new girlfriend of Keith. She does not know the Partridge Family and their songs. When she listens to I Think I Love You for the first time, she calls the music simple. This is the reason why Keith decides to create the first Partridge’s Concerto For Cello in D. Major. His mother asks him to realize the difficulties of this work. But Keith is convinced that he can do it, because the only important thing is (his) creative talent. On the evening of the concert he appears in tails, looking gorgeous. After the concerto, he is disappointed as it was not well received. Rachel tries to cheer him up, telling him that Beethoven and Bizet had bad reviews and she explains that the audience needs time to understand and appreciate his music. Now Keith feels his work must be really mature and says he is feeling sensational.
Keith tells his mother and Reuben that he wants their own label to record the concert with a full symphony orchestra of professional musicians. He says he could pay for it by taking money out of his trust fund. For his mother and Reuben a second opinion is now necessary. Ruben knows the distinguished composer/conductor Walter Yost who happens to be in town next week. Walter Yost meets with Keith and asks him to think over the situation. He tells him that not only classical music is important. He recommends Keith to continue to bring happiness to the people with his own music. Keith accepts this. Walter Yost and Rachel come to the Partridge Family concert in the evening. Rachel is astonished to see so many happy people in the audience. And she eventually understands. At home again, Ricky sings one of his nice songs for them.
